Intern Ashley Palmer

Ashley Palmer graduated from the London College of Fashion’s MA History and Culture of Fashion course in early 2011. Her dissertation examined the role of fashion designers working for high street retailers in London. It focused on changes to mass retail in the UK over the past twenty years and the effects these changes had on designers in practice and in media image.

Before beginning her master’s degree, Ashley worked as a fashion designer for various brands in New York City. She also trained under the renowned fashion and textile auctioneer, Kerry Taylor, in London. Her scholarly interests include: the design process in a corporate setting, fast fashion, mass fashion retailing, London’s retailing history and brand presentation. Current research includes papers on brides’ sartorial decisions in same-sex weddings and the influence of fast fashion retailing practices on designers.
