Senior Contributor & Book Reviews Editor Tove Hermanson
Senior Contributor Tove Hermanson is a freelance writer and lecturer on fashion history and culture with a background in English, Film Theory, Art History, and Costume Design. A long-time resident of New York City / Brooklyn, she participates in a wide array of cultural activities and sifts through a broad range of literature that she inevitably filters through a fashion-historical lens to gain insight into politics, social and class struggles, gender and sexual identity themes, race issues, and pop & counter-culture.
Projects have included several fashion entries for the Encyclopedia of Women and Popular Culture, and presentations at Yale’s “The Urban Catwalk,” Drexel University’s “Fashion in Fiction,” and CUNY’s “Gestures and Jesters: Irony” symposium. She is currently working on a lecture series and accompanying book on fashion as political dissent.
