Senior Contributor Lauren Michel
Senior Contributor Lauren Michel has an MS in Textiles from the University of California, Davis, with focus on the social psychology of dress and appearance management, in relation to history, theory, and culture.
Lauren has taught numerous university and college courses on fashion and dress, with special emphasis on culture and society, global dress and textile history, and hand crafts and surface design. Her research interests include the use and signification of color in dress, both across cultures and in self-expression, and dress history, costuming and living history, especially the Elizabethan and Victorian eras.
