About: Mellissa

Mellissa Huber writes bi-weekly about fashion and cultural happenings.

Mellissa is a fashion and textile scholar based out of Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Art history, and is currently a Masters degree candidate in the Visual Culture: Costume Studies program at New York University.

She has worked in various facets of the fashion industry for over 10 years, including: fashion forecasting, visual merchandising, retail, wholesale, product development, vintage, and work with antique textiles, costume, and textile-related art.

Mellissa currently works part time at a documentary textile studio in the garment district. Some of her research interests include global dress and textiles, anti-fashion and design reform, as well as fashion theory, and the reciprocity between fashion and fine art.
