About: Monica Sklar

Monica Sklar is currently a Ph.D. candidate in apparel studies focused on aesthetics and design as it relates to theory and culture, with specializations in 20th/21st century design and subculture.

She has taught numerous college level courses in dress, textiles, and retailing, worked in art and design museums/galleries in many capacities, done numerous projects in fashion and art journalism and wardrobe styling, and worked on endless retail floors.

Currently Monica is actively working on her dissertation on Punk Style and the Workplace and a book about Punk Style for Berg Publishers.
