CFP: Culture Costume and Dress, Multi-disciplinary Conference

This multi-disciplinary, international conference will explore the nature of dress as it relates to, responds to, and influences culture. Through presentations, poster, panel discussions and performance, the conference will consider the many aspects of costume and dress, exploring their inter-connections and reflecting on their significance. It will include an exhibition of costume and other artefacts that articulate the conference themes.

The conferenceĀ invites submissions from any discipline for academic papers, posters, performance pieces and contributions to the exhibition. Topics include, but are not restricted to:

  • Dress and material culture
  • Fashion and its cultural significance
  • Clothing and diversity
  • Dress and adornment: jewellery, shoes and accessories
  • Costume in history
  • Costume in literature
  • Costume and performance
  • Costume and technology
