I had a blast at the recent Fashion Sex and Power conference at the University of Minnesota honoring Joanne B. Eicher and featuring Keynote speaker Valerie Steele.
The rooms were filled with a vast array of international scholars, undergrad students all the way through Emeritus Professors, from Europe, Asia, Africa, and throughout the United States, including a huge number of Joanne’s mentees (myself included). Many of the protégées are now professors and museum professionals out in the field. The talks ranged from sex trafficking to corsets to dandies to cosplay and the conversations over lunches and dinners were even more interesting!
