Call for Papers for a Special Issue: Curating Costume/Exhibiting Fashion

The recent success of major costume exhibitions was the impetus for this edition of Fashion, Style & Popular Culture on Curating Costume and Exhibiting Fashion. This focus issue will explore the evolving discipline of fashion curation in the context of popular culture. Interdisciplinary scholarly research articles as well as book and exhibition reviews are invited. Possible topics include but are not limited to:

  • Fashion curating in the museum and/or gallery context
  • Fashion curating in the academy and education
  • The role of interactive and social media in fashion curation
  • Changes in fashion curation over time
  • The future of fashion curation
  • Issues in collection building and display
  • Accessibility and maintenance of collections
