11th Annual Material Culture Symposium for Emerging Scholars
Eleven emerging scholars will present on a diverse set of material culture topics linked by the theme “Embodied Objects: Material Culture Studies in Three Dimensions.” The symposium, co-sponsored by the Center for Material Culture Studies at the University of Delaware and the Winterthur Museum, investigates the potential of object-based research to expand and even reinvent our understanding of culture and history. This year’s keynote speaker is Jennifer Jane Marshall, Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Attendees will have the opportunity to take special tours of Winterthur’s collections with graduate students of the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture. The symposium is free and open to the public, but advance registration is encouraged.
