Call for Authors: Fast Fashion Systems: Theories and Applications

CRC Press’s Handbook on Fast Fashion Systems: Theories and Applications
Call for Authors: Peer-Refereed Book Chapter Contributions

Fast fashion is an industrial trend that is pertinent in practice. It refers to the concept of shortening lead time (production, distribution, etc) and offering new products to the market as fast as possible. Nowadays, this phenomenon is commonly adopted in fashion apparel (by brands such as Zara, Topshop, H&M, etc). In order to establish efficient fast fashion systems, a few research areas have emerged over the past few years and they include: Optimizing fast fashion systems by conventional analytical approach, use of information in fast fashion models, fast fashion multi-echelon supply chain optimization models, fast
fashion systems under competition and game-theoretic analysis, intelligent forecasting techniques in fast fashion systems, statistical based empirical analysis of fast fashion strategies, etc. Despite the abundance of both classical and new research results, there is an absence of a comprehensive reference source that provides the state-of-the-art findings on both theoretical and applied research on fast fashion systems. It is thus significant to put together all these interesting works and the respective insights into an edited volume. To be specific, the handbook includes two parts and I aim at publishing cutting-edge research that provides insights into the following topics:

Part I: Theories
1.1 Review of fast fashion analytical models
1.2 Coordinating fast fashion systems
1.3 Optimizing fast fashion models: A system approach
1.4 Use of information in fast fashion models
1.5 Fast fashion supply chain optimization
1.6 Fast fashion systems under competition

Part II: Applications
2.1 Information systems for fast fashion
2.2 Cases on the use of systems engineering methodologies in fast fashion
2.3 Applications of soft computing techniques in fast fashion systems (e.g., forecasting)
2.4 Applied optimization models and algorithms for fast fashion systems
2.5 Fast fashion systems design and analysis
2.6 Empirical studies of fast fashion related inventory practices

This research book project will generate new analytical results with valuable insights on the
fast fashion systems. It will be a pioneering text focusing on this important topic. For this book project, contributions are invited of about 5,000 – 8,000 words to be submitted by April 30, 2013.
