In honor of the holiday season I will be gifting some lucky and talented Worn Through reader a full-color, bound review copy of Deborah Nadoolman Landis’ most recent book Hollywood Sketchbook: A Century of Costume Illustration (Harper Design, November 2012). Read my full review of this fabulous book, with sample images, here.
To win this meaty book, I invite you to submit your favorite example of one of your own fashion or costume sketches. Upload a photo or a scan of your work to Worn Through‘s Facebook page. I will pick my favorite based on originality and quality of the art; the fashion or costume depicted will hold slightly less weight than the creative and unusual use of (or lack) of color, materials, layout, etc. I will announce the winner of this hefty prize (seriously, this is a substantial book!) by Saturday, December 22.
- No more than one entry per contestant; if you submit more than one image, only your first will be considered.
- Your submission must be your own sketch, though the fashion design could be someone else’s. (This is in keeping with Landis’ emphasis on how the illustrator and designer may have parallel, but not identical talents.)
- Submissions must be posted to Worn Through‘s Facebook page by midnight Thursday, December 20 (EST).
I’m very much looking forward to seeing some of your work and sharing it with the Worn Through online community. Best of luck!
