Caught on Film: “Hey’Ya: Arab Women in Sport”

Continuing the Olympic-themed videos posted by Selina, here is the youtube trailer for the exhibition “Hey’Ya: Arab Women in Sport,” commissioned by the Qatar Museums Authority and now on display at Sotheby’s London through August 11, 2012.

The exhibition presents images of contemporary Arab women from 20 different nations, documented in photographs by Brigitte Lacombe and in video by her sister Marian Lacombe, participating in athletics from the amateur to Olympic levels.

More information about the exhibit can be found in this article by The Financial Times, which features additional videos of individual athletes. Of particular interest is an interview with Wourod Sawalha of Palestine, a runner who shares her opinions on competing while wearing both a headscarf and running spikes.
