Course Instructor Opportunity: Sotheby’s Institute

The American Fine and Decorative Arts Program at Sotheby’s Institute of Art seeks a dynamic instructor to lead a course in the History of American Decorative Art, Colonial to 1850 for the fall semester in 2011.  Candidates should have an MA or PhD in art history, design history, material culture or a related field.  Prior teaching experience teaching at the college level is required, with graduate-level teaching preferable.  The course will meet 3 hours per week over the course of the semester (September 6 to December 16).

Sotheby’s Institute of Art is an MA granting program located in New York City that blends rigorous academics with practice-based connoisseurship skills.  Classes typically provide students with a combination of classroom lectures, museum visits, and object handling sessions.
