CFP: Fashion Bloggers Needed for Research

Fashion bloggers needed to take part in dissertation research
Deadline July 27, 2011

  • You need to be a fashion blogger* based in the UK, US, or Europe who has been active in the last 6 months.
  • You must read carefully the anonymity requirements and consent form, and sign/print name with date. This is essential, as without these your information cannot be used.
  • You should complete the questionnaire as fully as possible and email it.
  • The completed questionnaire needs to be return no later than 27th July 2011.
  • The dissertation investigates the relationships between fashion bloggers, the fashion industry, and contemporary social structures. The specific focus is on how fashion bloggers perceive their blog and blog-related activity in relation to different forms of work. To find out more about this subject, the author is asking fashion bloggers who are interested to participate in a self-assessment questionnaire. This questionnaire will take no more than an hour to complete and involves a mix of simple yes/no questions and more in depth-questions about your thoughts and feelings about four separate factors: work, finance, life, and blog audience. The questionnaire does not have to be timed or completed in one sitting. You have the option to remain anonymous entirely, or unnamed in specific circumstances if you so wish, and you do not have to answer any questions if you feel uncomfortable doing so. This questionnaire will then be used to help support or contradict the author’s ideas about fashion blogging, the fashion industry, and different forms of work, and will be published in her completed dissertation. This dissertation will then be held by the University of Leeds and will only be accessible to other students specifically investigating these topics. The author will also be publishing the dissertation on her blog but will, at all points in the write-up and publication, adhere to the desired level of anonymity of individual bloggers. More information about anonymity can be found near the anonymity form at the back of the questionnaire.

In return for participating in the research, you will receive:

  • A link to your blog in the bibliography of the dissertation
  • A link to your blog in a ‘thank you’ post I will write after the submission of my dissertation, on my personal blog (here)
  • A PDF copy of the completed dissertation if you would like to read it
  • Access the questionnaire through Eleanor Snare’s blog

*For the purposes of this research, a fashion blogger is determined   as someone whose personal or professional blog includes reference to   clothing, garments, style, and fashion as a cultural phenomenon. Your blog does not have to solely be about fashion but it should include some   commentary on an aspect of clothing (which can be historical,  contemporary, trend-led, personal or street style, etc.) Beauty bloggers   and style bloggers who focus specifically on non-clothing fashion (for   example, interior design) are not eligible for this research.
