On Monday France’s “burqa ban” will go into effect. French police will not have the authority to remove the veils, only to fine the wearers.

The topic of the veil ban has been extremely controversial. The ban’s supporters proclaim it will make France safer, and that it upholds the value of égalité within French culture. Those against it say it is nothing short of a return to sumptuary laws and institutionalized racism.

What are your thoughts on the ban?
