Job Description

Reporting to the Collections Management Supervisor and working closely with the Costume & Textiles Department Head, the Collections Administrator is responsible for the organization, care, storage and movement of the Costume & Textiles department’s collection, including permanent collection, study and archival.

Some duties include: consults with Department Head to create long term plans for existing storage facilities and future needs; produces documentary photographs of the collection for research files and storage containers; develops and manages the department’s collections management budget; designs and initiates protocols for any movement of collection objects; works with curators and conservators to assist and/or oversee light-sensitive rotations of all Costume & Textiles objects; coordinates and assists the Costume & Textiles curatorial staff with exhibition installations, de-installations, presentations and photography; manages all in-house and contract maintenance staff needed to properly maintain the collection.

The qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Art History, Costume & Textiles or related field, and at least three years of collection management and archival experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
