The Department of Textile and Apparel Management in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Missouri (MU) is seeking a 9-month, tenure-track faculty at the assistant or associate professor level in the area of product development. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in textile or apparel or related field at time of hire. The individual should be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and generate relevant research in the areas of apparel product development, technical design, apparel product technology, fit, or other issues related to product development and the soft goods chain. Ability to teach computer applications for apparel industry is imperative. We are looking for a candidate with the ability to acquire grants and participate in other academic functions. Experience with body scanning is desired. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department of Textile and Apparel Management is one of six units in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Missouri. TAM is one of 13 programs officially approved by the American Apparel and Footwear Association, and has a state-of-the-art Apparel Manufacturing Lab that includes a 3-D body scanner, Optitex, psychophysiology research lab, and extensive software donations from industry. The department has approximately 15 graduate students seeking master’s and Ph.D. degrees. TAM has an advisory board that works with the department to provide an excellent liaison with industry. A positive spirit of development and teamwork is evident in the Department. MU, the oldest state university west of the Mississippi, is one of only 34 U.S. Universities to be selected for membership in the Association of American Universities and designated “Doctoral/Research Intensive” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
