“THE ART OF FASHION IN THE HAMPTONS”
Through October 12
Guild Hall
East Hampton, NY

This exhibit features the work of 9 of the world’s most influential fashion designers with ties to eastern Long Island: Tory Burch, Betsey Johnson, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Reed Krakoff/Coach, Ralph Lauren, Nicole Miller, Elie Tahari, and Vera Wang. The exhibition explores the premise of “Hamptons Fashion” both in function and form and celebrates the area’s unique heritage as an artistic colony. Many of the vignettes are inspired by local imagery and/or works borrowed from the museum’s permanent collection.

“COAT COUTURE: INSPIRATION TO CREATION”

Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts
Melbourne, FL

This exhibit will feature the contemporary creations of the museum’sbenefactor, Ruth E. Funk, along with a selection of traditional textiles
from the permanent collection. Funk is a Florida Tech trustee, former art educator, life-long artist and collector. “Coat Couture” positions Ruth Funk’s wearable art in the context of global textile arts. African mud cloth, Chinese embroidery, Panamanian molas and Asian ikats are featured as the inspiration for her contemporary wearable art designs.
