Hi Kendra,

Thanks for the comments - I'd love to hunt down the exact references, but unfortunately I think they are just 'after' old master paintings. Of course, a few bare a striking resemblance to Anne Boleyn, but I wasn't able to find anything specific in the short amount of time I had to work on this piece. If anyone else has suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
(Images of Anne Boleyn can be seen here: http://images.google.com/images?q=anne+boleyn&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=Ou7oSvSmH4KIswOmuqTiCA&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CCEQsAQwAw)

Wow, tons of fabulous links! Those fashion photos are really great -- I love that they did a gable hood. The image with the woman holding the skull is really striking -- any guesses which artist/painting they're referencing there?

And the Costume Institute videos look very interesting, will save them for when I have time.

As I mentioned in the post, they are a part of the report by Karen Gausch and Joel Thompson “Storage Mounts for Costume Accessories” on their project from Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Details here: http://tickets.mfa.org/master/sub.asp?key=43&subkey=513
