The event:

The purpose of this symposium is to provide more in-depth information about women’s relationship with sewing. the presentations will provide a unique opportunity for participants to learn from and interact with some of the leading scholars in historic costume research.

The speakers include:

Gayle Strege-OSU, Sarah Marcketti & Jean Parsons-Iowa State Univ, Joy Emery-Univ. Rhode Island, and Catherine Leslie-Kent State Univ.

    How old is Mary Brooks Picken? Wasn’t she publishing in the 20s or 30s???

    I think you’re right so I changed the info because it must have been a typo. I cannot find a lot of good info on this conference though–I was mailed a document but no longer have it to double-check. Thanx for the tip. If anyone who reads this is involved with the event let us know more details.
