Pret a Portea in London

Last night a friend recommended a fabulous sounding activity in London so of course I had to make a reservation for while I’m there in early May. It is an afternoon tea (which I planned on doing somewhere while I am there) and it is a perfect fit for a future fashion prof. No pun intended. Well, maybe a little.

The Berkeley Hotel does a fashion themed afternoon tea every day with all of the scrumptious delights inspired by that seasons runway collections.

This is what they say, “The Berkeley London designer afternoon tea, Prêt-à-Portea, is inspired by the themes and colours of the fashion world. The menu is transformed every six months to follow the changing seasons in fashion.”

(these images are from Life in a Nutshell)

In addition to tea and champagne, check out these fabulous sounding treats:

Alexander McQueen fromage blanc chiffon dress balanced with raspberry meringue

Christian Dior duo of apple and hot pink cassis mousse & elegant fondant hat

Smythson “Maze Bag” banana Madeira cake with gold leaf clasp

Giambattista Valli red currant bavarois topped with lush fresh raspberries

Jimmy Choo high heel tuile

Christian Louboutin “Pigalle” green glitter shoe biscuit with renowned red sole

Yves Saint Laurent honeycomb supreme with chocolate jelly and pearl Croquant

Prada dark lace Valrhona chocolate crème

Valentino signature red chocolate coat biscuit accessorized with gold buttons

Louis Vuitton praline delice completed with chocolate pointed fez hat

And to top it off, everything is served on fine-bone china by Paul Smith (one of my absolute favs!) for Thomas Goode.

So of course something like this isn’t cheap, but my birthday is this weekend and we decided no gifts–all extra money goes to shopping and events London–so–this is sort of a post-birthday present. My friends who have had the fashionista tea said the food and service were a delight, so it sounds like a grande day! I’ll make sure to take pictures.

Apparently it has made it way to the States as well as Bergdof‘s in NYC started hosting Pret a Portea during this year’s fashion week.
