On Teaching Fashion: Fashion Films

Selected scenes from popular films and documentary films can be an excellent classroom tool to demonstrate a point within a lecture and spark a classroom discussion.  Here are some of my favorites, listed with their respective discussion topics.  If you would like to know the specific scenes I show in my classes, just leave a comment with your questions.

I’m interested in your class discussion on The Devil Wears Prada. What scenes do you play to instigate a class discussion about stereotypes within the industry?

Although there are some over-the-top parts in the movie (most people don’t travel to Paris, get thousands of dollars worth of clothes, etc), the behavior displayed by the characters seems to be to be pretty accurate as a whole.
