Eartha Kitt died on December 25, 2008 at the age of 81. Most remembered for her version of “Santa Baby” (especially this time of year), she also starred in many Broadway and Hollywood productions, and was renowned for her cat-like singing voice. She also had a brief role on the 1960s TV series Batman.

The New York Times Obituary is here. More on Eartha Kitt can be found in her 1991 autobiography, Confessions of a Sex Kitten. Catwoman: The Life and Times of a Feline Fatale offers additional insight into her characterization part in the “Catwoman” identity. For some lesser known facts about the actresses personal life and struggles, this brief article from 1997 (with sources cited) is interesting. Kitt clearly left her mark on popular culture, and she will be sorely missed.
Until Next Time,
Heather
