WALK A MILE IN THESE SHOES: THE STORIES THEY TELL
Through August 24 at the University of Oregon’s Museum of Natural and Cultural History. This exhibit displays the shoes of celebrities and traces the styles and stories of a century of footwear. 200+ pairs of shoes will be displayed, including 10,000 year-old sagebrush sandals, boots worn by a member of the band KISS, and traditional international footwear. In addition to cultural items, the exhibit will explore Oregon’s illustrious track history through the footwear that made it possible. Click here for details

FROM PLUGS TO BLING: A CENTURY OF CAL STUDENT FASHION
Through August 29 at Doe Memorial Library at UC Berkeley. This exhibit explores students’ lives at the University of California, as told through the clothing they wore. From junior plugs [top hats] and lettermen’s jackets to charm bracelets and African American graduation stoles, from cashmere sweater sets to denim jackets festooned with anti-war buttons, Cal students have always made fashion, political and gender statements through their choice of clothing and accessories. RICHES TO RAGS: CLOTHING ON THE OREGON TRAIL
Through September 2 at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Baker City, OR. This exhibit depicts typical fashions of 19th century pioneers “before” leaving on their journey, and how they had to abandon conventional fashion and personal style for the practicality and durability of survival on the dusty trail. The exhibit will include reproduction versions of historic clothing styles which visitors will be allowed to touch. Click here for details

Some of this material was gathered from the Costume Society of America which I am a member of. Thanx to them for getting exhibit info together on a regular basis!
